Prospective Agency Partners

Unparalleled Capability and Convenience

For over 30 years, the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) has partnered with federal agencies to place highly qualified students into internships leading to careers within the federal government. HNIP’s successful track record is built on diligence, flexibility, and a process providing a thorough understanding of an agency’s unique needs. High quality service coupled with competitive rates and an extensive, expansive database of qualified interns make the program the right choice for any agency.

The HNIP program aligns with federal merit hiring initiatives by serving as an effective early-career recruitment pipeline. The program also complements Federal Pathways Internships, with its internship hours counting towards the Pathways hours requirements.

With a membership of over 500 colleges and universities across the United States, HACU supports the higher education success of more than 5 million students and is uniquely positioned to deliver a high-impact internship program meeting agency workforce needs.

NATIONAL RECRUITMENT

HNIP works closely with partnering agencies to recruit across membership in response to position requests. All applicants referred to agencies for selection are vetted by HNIP to ensure eligibility and program readiness.

HNIP interns support agency employees across a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to STEM, policy, administration, communications and research functions nationwide.

STUDENT SERVICES & SUPPORT

HNIP provides comprehensive program management and support services. This includes intern onboarding and orientation, a series of professional development seminars, individualized coaching, and full administration of HR and payroll functions. HNIP also offers virtual supervisor orientations and ongoing support to ensure agencies are well-equipped to successfully host and mentor interns.

Flexible Partnership Options

HNIP offers multiple ways to partner with federal agencies.
