The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities hosted the International Symposium, “Innovative Collaborations: Tackling Current International Education Issues Across the Americas,” in San José, Costa Rica on June 12, at the Costa Rica Marriot Hotel Hacienda Belén.
The event showcased current issues and trends in international education. Sessions included “Strengthening Research and Academic Partnerships Among the U.S., Latin American, and Spanish Institutions,” “Public-Private Partnerships in International Education: New Models for Sustainability,” and “Global Collaboration in Climate Research and Disaster Recovery: Universities as Catalysts for Innovation, Policy Change, and Community Support.” Panelists included academics and leaders from colleges and universities in the U.S. and Costa Rica, and representatives of organizations from both countries.
The Symposium, as well as the International Symposium’s Student Track and the pre-conference Executive Leadership Seminar, brought a large number of administrators, academics and students from HACU-member institutions, as well as corporate partners and non-profit organizations to discuss international collaborations. Fellows from HACU’s Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo also attended as part of the Academy’s international component of the fellowship program.
The Symposium is sponsored by GlobalEdu Consortium/Costa Rica.
