HACU’s 15th International Conference highlights Presidential Leadership in a Changing Global Landscape

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ 15th International Conference featured a plenary session, “Presidential Leadership in a Changing Global Landscape,” on May 5, 2026.

The session explored how presidents and senior leaders are guiding their institutions through geopolitical shifts, enrollment pressures, and evolving workforce demands while sustaining and strengthening international partnerships. Panelists emphasized the importance of global strategy, cross-border collaboration, and adaptive governance in advancing student success and institutional resilience in today’s higher education landscape.

The session was a moderated conversation led by Katrina E. Bell-Jordan, Ph.D., president, Northeastern Illinois University. Speakers included: Mike Flores, Ph.D., chancellor of the Alamo Colleges District; Abel Chávez, Ph.D., president of Our Lady of the Lake University; and Taylor Eighmy, president of the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Special thanks to The Alamo Colleges District, the title sponsor of the 15th International Conference, and all event partners for their support.
