HACU’s 30th National Capitol Forum participants visit Capitol Hill

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities members gathered in Washington, D.C., for the 30th National Capitol Forum on Higher Education, April 29-30, 2025, to raise their voices on behalf of Hispanic-Serving Institutions. The second day of the Forum included remarks from Congressional members, followed by delegations to Capitol Hill by participants from 24 states.

On April 30, speakers of the breakfast plenary “Advocating for HSIs,” featured members of the House of Representatives, including Rep. Juan Vargas, Rep. Juan Ciscomani, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, Rep. Tony Gonzales, and Rep. Joaquin Castro. The focus of the plenary was on the importance of HSIs in the federal policy landscape, and how to effectively champion legislative priorities on behalf of institutions and students.

Capitol Forum attendees departed for Congressional visits after the plenary for a full day of meetings held with senators, representatives and their staff. The Capitol Forum and Congressional meetings were coordinated by HACU’s D.C. Government Relations.

The two-day Capitol Forum concludes with a Capitol Hill Reception, “Celebrating 30 Years of Higher Education Advocacy and Congressional Support.”
