HACU Webinar: Servingness as Strategy: Transforming Student Success Across the California State University System

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will host a HACU-member webinar titled, “Servingness as Strategy: Transforming Student Success Across the California State University System,” on July 21, 2026, at 2 p.m. CT. To register, click here.

This webinar explores  how the California State University system is integrating the Servingness model into its new system-wide Student Success Framework to redefine how institutions support and measure student success. Presenters from across CSU campuses will discuss servingness as a unifying strategy connecting Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), Black Student Success, and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) initiatives, offering practical approaches for sustaining equity-centered student success in today’s higher education landscape.

The webinar will be presented by Beya Makekau, Ed.D., associate vice president for culture and institutional excellence and senior diversity officer at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; Cecil Chik, Ed.D., associate vice president for culture and institutional excellence/ senior diversity officer at California State University, Fullerton; Kathleen Wong Lau, Ph.D., chief diversity officer at San José State University; and Aswad Allen, Ph.D., chief diversity officer at California State University San Marcos.
