HACU Webinar: Navigating New Federal Loan Changes: Supporting Students Through a Shifting Financial Aid Environment

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will host a HACU-member webinar titled, “Navigating New Federal Loan Changes: Supporting Students Through a Shifting Financial Aid Environment,” on Aug. 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. CT. To register, click here.

This webinar will focus on how recent federal student loan changes, such as lower loan limits and new repayment policies, are creating new challenges for students at Hispanic-Serving Institutions. The webinar will examine how the elimination of Graduate PLUS loans, new Parent PLUS borrowing limits, and evolving repayment plans may affect college affordability, borrowing decisions, student persistence, and long-term financial outcomes of first generation, low income, and historically underserved students who disproportionately rely on federal financial aid.

The webinar will be presented by Celina Damian, student loan servicing ombudsperson at the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, and Evelyn Castro, student loan ombudsman at the Nevada Treasury.

This webinar is being offered as part of the HACU-member webinar series.
