HACU Statement on Governor Newsom’s 2026–27 May Revision Budget Proposal

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities appreciates Governor Gavin Newsom’s continued commitment to California’s students and public higher education systems reflected in the 2026–27 May Revision Budget Proposal, particularly sustained investments in the California State University, University of California, California Community Colleges, and TK–12 education systems.

At a time of federal uncertainty, California’s leadership in prioritizing education, workforce development, and student support is critical to maintaining the state’s long-term economic competitiveness and talent pipeline.

Hispanic-Serving Institutions play a central role in preparing the next generation of leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and skilled workers who will drive California’s economy forward. HACU looks forward to continuing to work with the Administration and Legislature to ensure HSIs are fully recognized and supported as key drivers of social and economic mobility, workforce preparation, and economic growth across the state.
