SAN ANTONIO – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has appointed Elida Hernandez as chief financial officer, effective July 20, 2026. Hernandez previously served as chief financial and administrative officer for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

“I’m delighted to welcome Elida Hernandez to the Association as our new chief financial officer,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “Her background in the non-profit sector and her leadership in financial stewardship will help ensure HACU has the resources needed to support our critical work on behalf of our member institutions.”

Hernandez brings a background in cross-functional leadership, federal grant management, and optimizing capital structures in the non-profit sector.

“As someone dedicated to community service and transformation, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to HACU’s mission,” said Hernandez. “I look forward to contributing to HACU’s operational success.”

Hernandez is a certified public accountant. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and master’s degree from DePaul University. She was also a 2021 Daniel Burnham Fellow, an invitation-only accelerated civic onboarding experience for senior executives shaping the future of Chicago.
