HACU announces speakers of its 40th Annual Conference Town Hall

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced the speakers for its Town Hall taking place on Nov. 2, 2026, as part of the 40th Annual Conference in Chula Vista, California.

The HACU Town Hall, “Ready or Not:  Thriving in the New Age of AI,” will bring together a panel of leaders to explore the opportunities, challenges, and transformative impact of AI across teaching, learning, student success, and workforce preparation. With a focus on Hispanic-Serving Institutions, the conversation will spotlight AI ethics, responsible innovation, and thoughtful guardrails that protect students, communities, and institutions while expanding opportunity.

Speakers include Manhattanville University President Frank Sanchez, Ph.D.; Los Angeles Community College District Chancellor Alberto J. Román, Ph.D.; and Pearson Vice President of Digital Product Daniel Altabello. Laura Marquez of MARQ Strategies will moderate the Town Hall.

The Town Hall will also feature students who are putting AI into practice across the curriculum. A selection of students will briefly showcase their innovative projects from the main stage, with additional projects will be displayed throughout the room for attendees to explore and engage with firsthand. The presentations will highlight how students are navigating the opportunities and challenges of AI and shaping its role in the future of higher education.
