CALL TO ACTION
Contact your Representatives to urge them to support equitable federal funding support for Hispanic-Serving Institutions under the FY 2023 Appropriations.
HACU's Position
HACU supports increased federal appropriations for HSIs, which now total 600 and will continue to grow with our population’s changing demographics.
The U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate must pass 12 appropriation bills annually to fund the federal government. Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) are currently eligible to compete for targeted funding in three separate departments/agencies. Below are the latest funding levels for these programs.
Appropriations for HSI Programs: Fiscal Year (FY) 2023, 2024, and 2025 Request

Notes:
- HEA Title III, Part F is mandatory funding and, therefore, not subject to annual appropriations by Congress.
- Congress has instructed the National Science Foundation (NSF) to fund STEM education programs at or above the 2021 levels for 2024.
