HACU to host an International Symposium and pre-event seminar in San José, Costa Rica, June 8-12, 2025

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced it will host an International Symposium on June 12, 2025, and a pre-conference Executive Leadership Seminar, June 8-11, at the Costa Rica Marriott Hacienda Belén in San José, Costa Rica. A dedicated Student Track component will also be held June 8-12, giving students the opportunity to learn about study abroad opportunities and the benefits of an international education.

The HACU International Symposium, “Innovative Collaborations: Tackling Current International Education Issues Across the Americas,” will showcase current issues and trends related to international education, providing a platform to exchange best practices in internationalization and global engagement. Among the agenda sessions are “Strengthening Research and Academic Partnerships Among the U.S., Latin American, and Spanish Institutions,” “Private-Public Partnerships in International Education: New Models for Sustainability,” and “Global Collaboration in Climate Research and Disaster Recovery: Universities as Catalysts for Innovation, Policy Change, and Community Support.”

The Executive Leadership Seminar on international higher education will be held June 8-11, prior to the Symposium. Among the agenda sessions are “A Small Country with a Big Vision: Preventive Medicine,” “Institutional Alliances in Research: Building Knowledge for Global Impact,” “Internationalization and Community: Universidad Hispanoamericana Approach,” “CIELO: Transforming Health Education to Prevent Childhood Obesity and Promote Mental Health,” “Harnessing AI for Student Success: Innovation, Equity and the Future of Higher Ed,” and “Building Bridges in Global Education: Strengthening U.S.- Costa Rica Partnerships.” 

The Seminar includes visits to the La Universidad de Iberoamérica, Universidad Hispanoamericana, and Universidad Santa Paula campuses, providing highlights of each institution’s key international education strategies and activities.

The Symposium and pre-symposium seminar bring together participants from HACU-member institutions, students, corporate partners, and organizations to learn more about international collaborations. Fellows from HACU’s Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo will be among the attendees.
