Congressional HSI Caucus
The Congressional HSI Caucus is an important tool allowing Members of Congress and their staff engage with each other and stakeholders meaningfully on the importance and value of Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
HACU re-established the Congressional HSI Caucus to educate Members of Congress and their staff on the impact of HSIs in their districts and communities. Despite a significant growth in the number of HSIs, as well as the number of low-income and first-generation students in those institutions, federal investments have remained stagnant over the past decade. The HSI Caucus is a valuable for HACU and its members to engage with Members of Congress in a dialogue about the development of additional resources and legislative opportunities for HSIs.
Members of Congress with HSIs in their districts:

The goals of the Congressional HSI Caucus are the following:
- Increase awareness of the value and impact of HSIs with Members of Congress and their staff;
- Increase federal investments in HSIs;
- Allow Members of Congress to formally show their support for HSIs by joining the Caucus; and
- Foster long-term relationships with various Congressional offices.
What is a "Caucus"?

In many instances, Members assign personal staff to assist the caucus in carrying out its legislative objectives.
