HACU president and CEO featured presenter at USC summit

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities' President and CEO Antonio R. Flores was a featured presenter at the University of South Carolina’s inaugural summit, “Advancing the Higher Education Pathway in the Southeast for Hispanics and Latinos,” on March 24, 2025. The summit by USC addressed key issues related to Hispanic and Latino faculty and student success, developing the next generation of leaders, building connections across Southeast institutions and creating sustainable support for this work.

The two presentations by Flores led with a breakout session, “Creating Sustainable Leadership,” where he served as moderator for an interactive presentation and workshop format for faculty member audiences. The second session was a keynote presentation “Demographic Projections in Higher Education,” that served as a group conversation on demographic projections and Latino and Hispanic student needs in higher education.

Former HACU Governing Board member and University of South Carolina President Michael Amiridis provided welcome remarks to summit attendees. Current HACU Governing Board Secretary and Marymount University President Irma Becerra was also a presenter. Attendees of the summit included faculty members, university leaders and administrators, graduate students, and leaders of nonprofit organizations and government entities.
