The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) established the HACU Hall of Champions to honor those who embody the mission of the Association through exemplary efforts “To Champion Hispanic Success in Higher Education.” The 24th inductee into the HACU Hall of Champions is Dr. , Ph.D. , who was honored on November 1st, 2024 during HACU's 38th Annual Conference.

Dr. Emma Grace Hernández Flores, an active and dynamic leader in education, completed her law degree in San José, Costa Rica, in 1984 and obtained her Ph.D. from Complutense University of Madrid in 1988. With over 25 years as a Tax Law Professor internationally, she founded Universidad de Iberoamérica (UNIBE) in 1994, establishing a health sciences education model in Central America. Dr. Hernández also established the UNIBE University Hospital in 2003, the region's only such facility offering 55 specialties. Currently, she presides over UNIBE and leads several educational institutions, including ICS and Independent University in Heredia, while actively participating on HACU's Board of Directors.
