HACU National Internship Program sends off fall interns with virtual ceremony

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities bid farewell to its 2024 fall interns with a virtual ceremony held on Dec. 12, 2024. The participants were undergraduate and graduate students who served internships with federal agencies across the country, as part of the HACU National Internship Program.

Executive Director of HNIP Diana Vasquez welcomed and congratulated the interns on completing their internship. A keynote address was given by former HNIP intern Heather Kumar, who serves as a food technologist with the National Organic Program.

Remarks were also given by HNIP Ambassadors Darlene Carmichae, Atharva Nigudka and Thaniya Shankar who spoke about their internship experiences and highlighted the recipients of the HNIP Champion Award, Amanda Krot and Angela Kelly.

Approximately 190 students participated in these internships for a total of 15 weeks, as part of HACU’s National Internship Program. The following agencies in the Washington, D.C. metro area and field offices throughout the country provided the internships opportunities:

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Export-Import Bank of the United States
  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
  • Library of Congress
  • National Institutes of Health
  • U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing
  • United States Agency for International Development
  • United States Department of Agriculture
  • United States Department of Justice
  • United States Department of Treasury

HACU is accepting applications for the 2025 summer internship session. Internship dates are June 2 – Aug. 8, 2025. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 10, 2025. Information about eligibility and online application is available here.
