The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities presented two awards on Nov. 3, 2024, during the Networking Dinner at its 38th Annual Conference. HACU Vice President and Chief of Staff David Mendez served as convener. Rosa Garay López, clinical medical interpreter for the National Institutes of Health was the recipient of the Alicia Casanova Award, in recognition of being a HACU internship alumni who distinguished themselves professionally by positively affecting the lives of others.
Four students were presented with the Jose Ruano - Student Leadership Award to students that have given back to their communities through civic engagement, advocacy and campus involvement.The students recognized for the award and their home institutions are: Andy Berrios, University of Houston – Downtown; Angel Escobedo, Saint Xavier University; Adrian Valdez, St. Edward's University; and Jasmin Langomas, Kean University. HACU thanks all of its partners and sponsors for their support its 38th Annual Conference.
