The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities signed a memorandum of understanding on October 14, 2024, with the Institute of International Education (IIE) at their global headquarters in New York City, to provide a framework for cooperation between the two organizations to expand access to international education for Hispanic-Serving Institutions and Hispanic identifying students.
HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores, IIE CEO Allan E. Goodman, and Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Courtney Temple, were part of the MOU signing on behalf of both organizations.
Areas of collaboration in the MOU include each organization promoting programs and services, informational resource development, and participation in events and, especially to contribute and share thought leadership. In addition, IIE will participate in meetings with HACU's International Commission, and activities focused on international education.
The cooperative relationship is led by HACU’s Institute of Global Education and IIE’s Center for Access and Equity. HACU’s Institute of Global Engagement aims to expand programming for national and international members, provide accessible global learning opportunities, strengthen a teacher pipeline to address the critical educator shortages, as well as to develop meaningful connections around the world. The mission of the IIE Center for Access and Equity is to provide IIE expertise on access and equity in international education; focusing on expanding education and skills development and leveraging thought leadership to enrich global learning, programs and partnerships, and access for underrepresented communities.
