HACU announces speakers of its 38th Annual Conference Town Hall

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced the speakers of the Town Hall of its 38th Annual Conference on Nov. 3, 2024. The Annual Conference under the theme, “Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Reaching New Heights of Excellence and Equity,” is taking place Nov. 1-3, 2024, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado.

The HACU Town Hall will focus on "Addressing the Impact of Anti-DEI Policies on Higher Education and Student Success.” Speakers will discuss efforts across the country to reduce or dismantle Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs in higher education, and the risks it poses to all students due to employers often recruiting graduates from universities promoting inclusive environments. The panel will examine how hampering DEI initiatives limits their abilities and preparedness to thrive in multicultural professional environments, as well as access to industry related experiences regardless of their identity.

The Town Hall will be moderated by Stephanie Rodriguez, anchor-reporter, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. Speakers will include Christopher Reber, Ph.D., president of Hudson County Community College, Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, Ph.D., president of California State University, Fresno and Thomas Saenz, J.D., president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
