Applications for first VOLARÉ Institute cohort now being accepted

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced applications are being accepted from Hispanic-Serving Institutions for the Visioning, Organizing, Leading, and Advancing the Research Enterprise Institute project, a series of research capacity building institutes for HSIs. The VOLARÉ Institutes will train a new research workforce at HSIs encompassing three cohorts of institutions over three years. Each cohort will span a yearlong program of activities.

Applications for the first VOLARÉ Institute cohort to begin fall of 2024 will be accepted through July 22, 2024. A total of 60 participants per cohort from 20 to 30 HSIs will be selected, including universities with an R2 or R3 designation, and community colleges. VOLARÉ will focus on research development and pre-award capacity activities.

The institute builds upon HACU’s HSI network to broaden STEM participation, launching research initiatives by providing administrative leaders, staff, and faculty with a framework for conducting needs assessments and collaborative action plans. Elements of the VOLARÉ Institute will include virtual and in person meetings for a research enterprise financial model workshop, institutional assessments, opportunities for consortium-building and learning/peer mentor communities, development of action plans and timelines, and more.

Information on the program and application process is available on the program website, here.

The Volare Institute is a grant funded by the National Science Foundation Growing Research Access for Nationally Transformative Equity and Diversity initiative.
