The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ 14th International Conference concluded with the third day featuring Plenary Session III, “Forging a Common Policy Agenda for Pan-Hispanic International Education,” on June 5, 2024. The session focused on creating a common policy agenda fostering international collaborations and leveraging public and private investments enhancing educational outcomes for Hispanic communities across the Western Hemisphere.
Speakers at the session framed as a conversation moderated by HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores, were: Illinois State Senator Omar Aquino; California State Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes; and Blanca Ares González, director of universities and research, Ministry of Education, Castilla y León. Key topics of the session included equitable access to educational opportunities for Hispanic students, language and cultural competency, international partnerships, workforce development, and policy alignment and coordination.
