The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced the agenda and speakers of its 23rd Annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute, a pre-conference event taking place Nov. 1, 2024, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, in conjunction with HACU’s 38th Annual Conference. The one-day Institute will focus on vital skills and strategies for moving up the faculty and administrative ladders in higher education.
Speakers and presentations will focus on topics under the theme “Utilizing High Impact and Equitable Programs to Achieve Organizational Excellence.” The Institute will include a morning keynote by Mordecai Ian Brownlee, Ed.D., president, Community College of Aurora, and a lunch keynote address will be given by Joe Garcia, J.D., chancellor, Colorado Community College System.
Concurrent breakout sessions will focus on three topics:
An afternoon session on the "White House Fellowship Program," presented by Francisco Leija and Margarita Colmenares, will provide information about the leadership and service program.
The Institute concludes with a Presidents' Panel that includes Salvador D. Aceves, Ed.D., president, Regis University; Veronica Garcia, Ph.D., president, Northeast Lakeview College; Pardis Mahdavi, Ph.D., president, University of La Verne; Amy Parsons, J.D., president, Colorado State University; and Lester Sandres Rápalo, Ed.D., president, Rockland Community College.
