HACU statement on State of the Union address 

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.

“HACU supports President Biden's commitment to increase “record” investments in education, including Hispanic-Serving Institutions which educate over 5 million students, including two-thirds of today’s 3.5 million Hispanic college students,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “HSIs are fundamental in providing higher education opportunities to Hispanic students and other underserved populations, including African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans.”

With the administration’s current emphasis on the CHIPs and Science Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, it's vital that HSIs are prioritized to develop a diverse and competitive workforce for the future.

HACU calls on the Biden Administration and Congressional leaders to support historic investments for HSIs to continue serving as critical pillars in our communities, working to build a more robust and diverse competitive 21st Century workforce.
