The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities hosted an Emerging Leaders’ Summit focused on preparing students for internships and career opportunities in various fields. The summit was held at St. Mary’s University on Sept. 29, 2023, and brought together more than 100 students from 25 colleges and universities with professionals and corporate representatives for the one-day event.
Opening remarks were given by Jason Pierce, Ph.D., St. Mary’s provost and executive vice president. Students participating represented the following majors: STEM (including computer science, information technology, management information systems, engineering, etc.), finance, accounting, business, communications and marketing fields.
Corporate partners holding career preparation workshops and panels included Fidelity Investments, Nordstrom, Sixth Street, Southwest Research Institute, USAID and Methodist/HCA. The summit concluded with an employer showcase and closing remarks from Stephanie Ward, Ph.D., St. Mary’s vice provost for vocation and career services.
