SAN ANTONIO – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has issued the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s proposed 2022-23 State Budget.

“The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities applauds Governor Newsom for making additional investments in higher education, including financial aid and many equity-centered proposals in the January Budget,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores.

“HACU looks forward to working with the California Administration and the Legislature to pass a higher education budget that reflects the needs of institutions of higher education and the financial aid of students, including increasing all the Student Academic Preparation and Education Programs (SAPEP) proportionally, providing additional resources to close achievement gaps as well as hire additional underrepresented faculty and staff in all segments.”
