The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ President and CEO, Antonio R. Flores, visited Washington, D.C. on November 4, 2021, to discuss Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) priorities with a number of elected officials of Congress and the Biden Administration, including Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves. Among the topics discussed with Graves were priorities relating to HSIs, such as the lack of high-speed internet access for Hispanic households, which has caused job loss in Hispanic communities, and how the Administration’s broadband expansion will aid those in need of employment by creating enhanced remote work capabilities.

Highlighted in the discussion was the National Telecommunications and Information Administration' Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program or NTIA CMC, and the benefits it can bring to Hispanic communities.
