The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will host a free webinar for HACU-members. The webinar titled, “Mass-Personalization as a Path to Hispanic Student Success: The Example of ASU College Algebra,” will be presented by Dale Johnson of Arizona State University. The webinar takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, from 3-4 p.m. CDT.  Johnson will discuss how ASU implemented mass-personalization in College Algebra and how that transformation benefited Hispanic students. The following is the description of the webinar:

Teaching the same lesson at the same time to all students, regardless of their learning needs, has been the norm for over 100 years. Adaptive instructional systems are facilitating a transformation to a mass-personalization model to meet the unique needs of each student. This model is designed to teach the right lesson to the right student at the right time to enable their success.

Dale Johnson is the director of digital innovation, at Arizona State University. He works with university leaders to develop and implement digital solutions to enable student success. Those efforts have earned him the 2016 Sally M. Johnstone Award from WCET recognizing his thought leadership, excellence in practice, and demonstrated leadership capabilities. He has a bachelor of science in design degree from ASU and a master in public policy degree from Harvard University.
