HACU and Denny's award scholarships to five students

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is pleased to announce that five students from HACU-member institutions were the recipients of scholarships awarded through the 2020-21 Denny's Hungry for Education program.

HACU was one of five leading non-profit minority advocacy organizations who partnered with Denny’s to offer scholarships. The awardees submitted essays on how Denny's can impact childhood hunger in the United States. The following students were selected to receive $2,000 scholarship:

  • Tanya Acosta - California State University, Fresno
  • Amanda Arroyo - Alverno College
  • Thaimary Cabrera - Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Puerto Rico
  • Christina Marquez - Central New Mexico Community College
  • Alejandro Padilla - The University of Texas at Arlington

On Thursday, April 29 at 7:00 pm EDT, Denny’s will host the second-annual Denny’s Hungry for Education Virtual Winners’ Celebration honoring our 2020–2021 scholarship winners. The event will be streamed live on Denny's Facebook page. For more info, visit www.dennyshungryforeducation.com.
