Application deadline extended for HACU National Internship Program summer session

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities National Internship Program is accepting applications from college students for the summer 2021 session. Internships for the summer session will be held virtually. HACU continues to work with federal agencies to offer virtual internships due to COVID-19 and will continue to adapt the internship program as needed to offer these important career development experiences for college students.

The summer internship program dates are June 3 - Aug. 13, 2021 for students on a regular calendar, and June 17- Aug. 27, 2021, for students on a quarter calendar. Extended online application deadline is March 15, 2021.

Applications for paid internship positions within the following agencies are being accepted: Center for Disease Control, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Library of Congress, National Institutes of Health Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

College majors in the following areas are in high demand:

  • Agriculture (all related majors)

  • Communication
  • Computer Science
  • Conservation
  • Demography
  • Economics
  • English
  • Epidemiology
  • Food Security
  • Foreign Languages
  • History
  • Human resources
  • Information Science

  • Public Health (Undergraduate and Graduate level)

Federal internship sessions are for 10-weeks during the summer program. Federal interns also participate in an orientation prior to the start of their internship.

Program Details:

  • Intern weekly stipends: Graduates: $680 Undergraduates: $610 - stipends determined by academic level at the time of application.
  • Professional development, social, and cultural activities.
