San Antonio, Texas – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has issued the following statement on the passage of the National Museum of the American Latino Act (H.R. 2420) passed by Congress on Dec. 21, 2020, and expected to be signed into law by the president of the United States:
“HACU applauds the passage of the National Museum of the American Latino Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation to create a National Museum of the American Latino in the Smithsonian Institution,” said HACU President Antonio R. Flores. “This is a historic win honoring the contributions of Latinos to the United States and is twenty years in the making.”
“HACU thanks Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey and Senator John Cornyn of Texas for sponsoring the National Museum of the American Latino Act and the rest of the members of Congress for reaching an agreement that will recognize the incredible legacy of Latinos in the U.S. for generations to come,” added Flores.
