The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities National Internship Program bid farewell to its 2020 summer interns with a virtual ceremony on August 5, 2020, for undergraduate and graduate students serving virtual internships. Internships were held remotely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This summer marked the first time that an entire session of students participated in virtual internships.
A welcome was given by HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores, followed by remarks by the HNIP staff regarding the internship program. Lillian Gorman, former HNIP intern and professor at the University of Arizona, addressed interns as well as two current interns who also shared their experiences working with Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The following agencies in the Washington, D.C., metro area and field offices throughout the country were among those providing these internship opportunities to students:
Over 150 students participated in these internships for a total of 10 weeks, as part of HACU’s National Internship Program.
HACU is accepting applications for the spring internship session of Jan. 7 - April 23, 2021. The application deadline for the fall session is October 30, 2020. Information about eligibility and online application is available here.
