San Antonio, Texas – Coors Light will recognize twelve individuals for its 2020 Líderes campaign, Richard Montez, staff member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is among the finalists in the Coors Light Líderes campaign, through which he will be honored for his work as a leader in the community.

As a chosen leader, Montez will be highlighted among twelve Hispanic Líderes from across the country through a national and local print campaign and the Coors Light Líderes website. One leader out of the twelve finalists will be selected as the Líder of the Year through a public online vote at www.coorslightlideres.com through August 31, 2020. The winner will receive a $25,000 grant for a community leadership project with their non-profit organization and Coors Light.

Richard Montez has been chosen as part of Líderes for his involvement in HACU programs that impact youth nationwide and his leadership in the local San Antonio community. His work includes planning and coordinating HACU’s Annual Dean's Forum on Hispanic Higher Education, and serving as an active committee member of the ¡Lánzate!/Take Off! Higher Education Travel Award Program. In addition, he serves as board chair at a San Antonio nonprofit that serves the most economically marginalized neighborhood in Bexar County.

“We are honored that Richard Montez was selected as one of the 2020 Coors Light Líderes,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “Thanks to Coors Light, Richard’s commitment to the Hispanic community will be highlighted and we hope his story will be an inspiration to others.”

The Coors Light 2020 Líderes were selected for their leadership and desire to make a difference in their communities. The program aims to inspire the next generation of up and coming Latino leaders to embrace new challenges as exciting opportunities rather than obstacles.

“Being selected as one of this year’s Líderes is a great honor and privilege,” said Richard Montez. “Through this innovative initiative we have the opportunity inspire others through our individual journeys to convey the importance of finding your true passion and becoming an advocate for that cause and amplifying Latino voices in order to help our communities.”
