The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has completed its transition to switch operations to a remote work environment. HACU’s Washington D.C. office and Western Regional Office have been teleworking and the staff in the San Antonio, Texas headquarters began teleworking effective March 19-April 24, 2020. There will be no interruption to HACU operations, and our staff will be available by telephone and email communication during the time zones of each locations' regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

We are continuing our important advocacy work in support of our member institutions to champion Hispanic success in higher education. The urgency to continue advocating for funds for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) couldn’t be greater now that we are facing this pandemic. This week, HACU submitted to Congress a request for additional investments for HSIs under the coronavirus stimulus package. We will be sending you a call to action very soon to request your advocacy support by communicating with your members of congress via our online Advocacy Center.

Our staff continues working on making our virtual event of the 25^th Annual Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education, April 21-22, 2020, a great success. The Forum will feature the Honorable Robert King, assistant secretary of education of the Office of Postsecondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education who will speak during the Opening Plenary. Our spring edition of The Voice of Hispanic Higher Education magazine will be finalized at the end of this month. HACU members and subscribers will receive a link to access the magazine. We have opted to not print the issue and instead publish a digital edition. Our editorial staff can be reached at news@hacu.net.

We are mindful of the challenges that institutions and communities across the globe are facing and adapting too accordingly. We are confident that we will meet these challenges successfully and will be stronger in the end.
