San Antonio, Texas – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced it will host its 25^th National Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education as a virtual event on April 21-22, 2020. This annual event brings together advocates for Hispanic-Serving Institutions and Hispanic success in higher education to shape and promote an agenda for Congress and the country. This marks the first time that the Forum will be held as a virtual event, but for the Association it offers the best alternative with travel concerns surrounding the uncertainty of the COVID-19 threat.

“The health and safety of our participants and staff that attend the Capitol Forum and our various special meetings is our priority,” said Antonio R. Flores, president and CEO of HACU. “Hosting a virtual Capitol Forum will still offer participants an opportunity to engage in advocacy sessions and hear from presenters on the latest legislative priorities for Hispanic-Serving Institutions.”

HACU’s Legislative Agenda will be presented during the Capitol Forum. In addition, sessions on key information to support advocacy efforts for higher education and speakers will be offered via ZoomInfo.com and hosted by Pathable.com. HACU has a long-standing partnership with Pathable, Inc., an industry leader in event planning. An Advocacy 101 Workshop will also be offered for college students. Video and/or teleconference meetings with members of Congress will be scheduled in place of Capitol Hill visits. The Association will also host two free pre-conference workshops. According to Flores, the HACU Leadership Academy seminar and other business meetings held at the Capitol Forum will also be conducted via the virtual platform.

The event draws leaders of HACU member and partner colleges and universities join public policymakers, key federal agency leaders, allied organizations, corporate, community and philanthropic representatives at what has become a powerful national platform for winning public- and private-sector support for Hispanic higher education.
