Alicia Diaz appointed interim chief advocacy officer

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced the interim appointment of Alicia Diaz as chief advocacy officer, effective July 8, 2019. Her appointment follows the departure of Luis Maldonado, who served in the position for more than five years. The position serves as the senior official for the Washington D.C. office.

“HACU thanks Luis for his outstanding service to the Association,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “We are pleased to have Alicia Diaz, who has served for nearly five years as executive director of legislative affairs for HACU, assume the role of Interim CAO.”

Diaz will serve as CAO until a new head of the Washington D.C. office is appointed.

Diaz has extensive experience working with Congress, the Administration and federal agencies, on legislation and policies for Hispanic-Serving Institutions. She earned a master’s degree from Rutgers University and attended the Université Francois Rabelais, in Tours, France.
