The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will host a webinar from 12-1 p.m., CDT on June 27, 2018, to provide information on a new national online resource center for DACA/DREAMers and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Click here to register.

The online center available on HACU's website provides information helpful to colleges and universities seeking information.

The webinar will include two presentations of best practices for supporting undocumented students enrolled in higher education and featured on the website.

Presenters:

  • David A. Ortiz, Ph.D., executive director of policy analysis and information, HACU
  • Janet Nishihara, director, educational opportunities program, Oregon State University
  • Courtney Garcia, academic counselor, educational opportunities program, Oregon State University
  • Maria Maldonado, coordinator, Undocumented Student Support Center, California State University, San Bernardino
  • John Aguilar, executive director of legislative affairs, HACU

The online portal was developed following recommendations from “Act on the Dream” Coalition convened by HACU. More than 35 national higher education organizations and immigration stakeholders are part of the Coalition. Among the areas of discussions for the Coalition have been strategies to support passage of the DREAM Act and resources to support DACA students, DREAMers, their families, and institutions of higher education.
