Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments (CaMLA) and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) have announced a strategic partnership to help increase higher-education opportunities for Hispanic college students whose first language is not English. CaMLA offers English language exams, which can be used for admissions purposes as well as for placement in ESL and intensive English programs.
"We are excited to partner with HACU and to use CaMLA’s resources to increase student success at HACU member institutions,” said Casey Marks, CaMLA’s CEO. “For decades, CaMLA’s assessments have provided a means for nonnative speakers of English to achieve their dreams, and we look forward to working with HACU and its members to support them in their efforts to champion the success of Hispanics in higher education.”
“Many HACU member institutions reach out to students from across the world whose first language is not English. CaMLA’s assessments can be key in helping these students succeed,” added HACU president and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “We’re pleased to partner with CaMLA to offer our institutions another tool in assuring student success.”
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) represents approximately 450 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, and Spain. HACU is the only national educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Information is available at www.hacu.net.
